Emily And unleashes La Manija , her new album
The singer from the United States, established in Buenos Aires a few years ago, finally releases her new work La Manija, a heterogeneous album that consolidates her as a vibrant creator of fiery songs that know no borders.
Like an angel caller invoking feeling, the sound of luminous guitars advances delicately, but firmly opening the way to melody, rhythm and sounds. It doesn't take long for these ingredients to expand, mutate and fly depending on the songs, the lyrics and the concept. What it sounds like is La Manija, the long-awaited new LP by Emily And - now available on all platforms -, which condenses the musical news of this tireless artist. A diverse record, different from what was previously done by this American singer-songwriter based in Argentina, which records her growth, search and passion for song.
Already previewed in the singles “La intima(a)” (September 2023), the punk “A cry ” (August 2023) and the melancholic “In the winter things get complicated” (June 2023), Emily And anticipated the variety of styles and sound quality that we would find in La Manija and the rest of the songs included on the album confirm it. In the lyrics, for her part, the singer develops her political vision of emotional relationships, with songs that dialogue with each other, investigate the same concept and complement each other. Sensitive lyrics, but never cheesy, between catharsis and reflection.
Emily And reaches a high point of her expression with La Manija. This is a record extremely different from their previous albums, with great work in composition, interpretation, sound and production; and the example of a golden present that opens the door to a giant and unmissable future. Emily And bio:
Emily And is the solo project of Emily Ann S. McKelvey, a singer-songwriter from North Carolina, USA, who has lived in Buenos Aires since 2017 and who has toured the stages of this city for years. First, she went alone with her guitar, performing playful and emotional folk pop/anti-folk; and then she put together a six-member band with whom she developed an energetic and personal style, ranging from punk to progressive, through intimate balladry, post-grunge and pop. It was with this group that she recorded En Vivo en La Tangente (2023), an audiovisual album that captures and shares her new sound and staging. After three preview singles, on October 18, 2023, she released La Manija, her new LP, which once again reformulates her proposal.
