“We lost the musical genius Robbie Robertson today.

Robbie and the entire Band’s contribution to rock and roll, folk, roots or whatever description you prefer, must be honored and recognized for the breadth and long lasting treasure that their musical canon represents.

Robertson brought fans 'The Weight,' 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,' 'The Shape I'm In (The Band song)' and 'Daniel and the Sacred Harp,' to name just a few of his compositions. His work married much of the greatest melodic traditions of Americana music and rock and roll. Just a few notes and you knew you could only be listening to one of The Band's songs.

The Band’s performance at Woodstock was remarkable and soul-stirring. And while many knew the Band as the group who also played with our Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan, their legacy and Robertson’s profound songwriting, stands on its’ own. Robertson was a musicians’ musician, admired and respected by all. He was one of the giants and I am forever grateful to have seen him and heard his incredible music .

Additionally, in honor of the 54th anniversary of Woodstock, on Wednesday, August 15th, Professor Louie & The Cromatix will take the Free Stage at the Museum at Bethel Woods Special Exhibit. The group began their career’s backing for The Band, but later became successful on their own, touring internationally and recording sixteen Studio albums, an LP, a new EP, streaming shows, videos and more.
